Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Brainzy:

• Account identifier — a technical ID created by our authentication provider, and the username you choose.
• Email address — only if you link your account to Apple or Google. With Apple, this can be a private relay address.
• Profile — the country you pick, your avatar color and, if you add one, your profile photo.
• Game data — for each daily game: your time, mistakes, hints used, outcome and points, plus your XP, level, grade, streaks and achievements, and a cloud copy of this progression.
• Friends — the Brainzy players you add, and those who add you.
• Coins — your balance and the history of Coins earned and spent on Hints.
• Usage counters — daily totals per account: sessions, games played, ads shown or skipped, rewards granted, Hints bought, views of the Remove Ads offer.
• App settings — language, sound, reminder time. These stay on your device and travel with your cloud save.

Brainzy does not collect your location, your address book, your photos beyond the one you choose as an avatar, your advertising identifier for its own purposes, crash or analytics data through a third-party SDK, and it does not use Game Center.

The playbrainzy.com website uses no cookie and no tracker: nothing is stored in your browser except the language you pick, kept locally so the site opens in that language next time.

2. How we use your information

• Run the service: your account, the six daily games, points, XP, levels, grades, streaks and the cloud save (performance of our contract with you).
• Show the leaderboards and let you play against friends (performance of the contract).
• Manage Coins, Hints and the Remove Ads purchase (performance of the contract).
• Keep the game fair: detect impossible times and abuse (our legitimate interest in a trustworthy ranking).
• Understand how Brainzy is used, through aggregated daily counters (legitimate interest).
• Send you the daily reminder, if you allow notifications (your consent, given in iOS).
• Show non-personalized advertising (legitimate interest).

3. Your account

When you first open Brainzy, a guest account is created automatically: no email, no password. You choose a username, which other players can see.

You can link that account to Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In to keep your progression if you change device. We then receive an account identifier and an email address from Apple or Google — never your password. Linking keeps the same Brainzy account, so you do not lose anything.

If you add a profile photo, it is stored on our server so it can appear next to your username for your friends and in the rankings. You can remove it at any time in the app.

4. Game data and leaderboards

Every day, all players get the same six puzzles. When you finish one, the app sends our server your time, mistakes, number of hints and the outcome; the points are calculated by the server, not by the app.

Your username, country, avatar and times are visible to other players in the Friends and World rankings for the day. Your email address is never shown to anyone.

Adding a friend creates a link between your two accounts, visible to both of you. Removing a friend deletes that link on both sides.

5. Advertising

Brainzy is free and shows advertising, served by Google AdMob. Ads are never shown during a game: an interstitial can appear between games, and you can choose to watch a rewarded ad to receive Coins. Our ad partner processes data under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Ads are never personalized. Brainzy does not read your device’s advertising identifier and does not follow you from app to app — which is why iOS never shows you a “Tracking” prompt. Ads are chosen from context, knowing nothing about you. Where the law requires it (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland), a consent form asks whether our partner may process your data, and you can change your answer at any time from Settings › Advertising in the app.

You can remove ads permanently with the one-time Remove Ads purchase.

6. Measurement

Brainzy uses no third-party analytics SDK. We keep simple daily counters attached to your account (sessions, games played, ads, rewards, Hints, views of the Remove Ads offer) to understand how the app is used and to keep advertising at a reasonable level. They are deleted with your account.

7. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Brainzy can send you one reminder a day — and none once your six games are done. These reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone: we collect no push token and no notification content. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

8. Purchases

Remove Ads is a one-time purchase (non-consumable), handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Apple only tells the app whether you own the purchase, so that ads can be turned off.

Coins are an in-game currency earned by playing. They cannot be bought, have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for money.

9. Service providers

We work with a short list of providers:

• Supabase, Inc. — accounts, game results, leaderboards, friends, Coins and profile photos.
• Apple — App Store, in-app purchase, Sign in with Apple, notifications.
• Google — Google Sign-In, if you choose it.
• Google AdMob — advertising.
• Netlify, Inc. — hosting of the playbrainzy.com website.

They act on our instructions or under their own privacy policy, and none of them is allowed to use your data for their own purposes beyond what is described here.

10. International transfers

Some of these providers are established outside the European Union. When your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is covered by appropriate safeguards, in particular the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. How long we keep it

Your account, profile, game results, friends, Coins and usage counters are kept as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, they are deleted with it — we keep no shadow copy and no anonymized ranking history.

Data stored on your iPhone (settings, today’s attempt, the tutorials you have already seen) stays on the device and disappears when you delete the app.

12. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, directly in the app: Settings › My account › Delete my account. It is permanent and immediate.

Our account deletion page lists exactly what is deleted and what is not. If you cannot access the app any more, write to hello@playbrainzy.com from the address linked to your account, or give us your username.

13. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw your consent at any time (which does not affect what was done before).

To exercise these rights, write to hello@playbrainzy.com. We answer within one month. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to your data protection authority — in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).

14. Children

Brainzy is a general-audience puzzle game. It is not directed at children under 13, and in countries where consent to data processing requires a higher age (15 in France), children below that age should only use Brainzy with the agreement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to the database is restricted row by row to the account that owns the data, your session credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain, and the app only ever holds a public key — every privileged operation happens on the server.

No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect, which is the best protection there is.

17. Changes to this policy

When Brainzy changes, this page changes with it: we update the date at the top and, for anything significant — the first ads, a new provider — we tell you in the app.
